The Foundry – A UK lab in London creating DNA for future devices

Yes, it’s true, “The Foundry” is a lab established recently in South Kengsignton, London, United Kingdom. The aim of this newly launched project by the UK government is to make DNA that can revolutionize the synthetic biology. The Robotics technology is being used in the process of DNA creation.

Currently, Foundries or Factories producing various products, from personal to commercial use. But as we know, these days technologies changing the world. That’s why now factories like “The Foundry” going to make something different. No doubt, If I say this is the scientific era.

A little intro of “The Foundry” Project

The Imperial College London is the place where The Foundry is located in its basement.  At the moment, The Foundry got 20,00,000 pounds (approximately PKR: 30 crores) for its initial processing. Robots are developing DNA by using yeast cells those are harmless.

This research is extremely costly as well as time taking. If The Foundry successfully creates DNA devices, then these devices might be helpful in many ways.  It is expected, these DNA devices can produce many new medicines and low carbon fuel to meet the future challenges globally.

If the United Kingdom successfully makes these DNA devices, then the UK would be the leader of future technology.

Following is a statement from a Professor of Imperial College London:

What we’re doing is now much more detailed. We’re beginning to really design and engineer biological systems. Which is, I think, a natural evolution, but it is a transformation as well.

We hope this DNA device framework can boost synthetic biology field. I will share more technology related news with you. If you find this news informative then give me a favor to share it with your friends on social media .
